On the 22/06/2015 at around midnight i was extremely fortunate to capture the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights and Milky Way over Portland Bill Lighthouse in Dorset. I would love to say this was planned but in all honesty I was there to capture the complete curve of the Milky way over the Lighthouse and had no idea the Northern Lights were putting on a show around me.
I did not properly look at the images taken from that night until two and a half weeks later either which was when I spotted it! This is nine vertical photos stitched together to create the panorama using Lightroom and Photoshop. All I have done to it is reduce the light pollution from the buildings on the far left to reveal the Aurora and removed a little bit of lens flare from above the Lighthouse – so it’s pretty much as it came out of the camera.
As far as I know I am the first and only person to have captured the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights over Portland Bill Lighthouse in Dorset so if you would like a print of this totally unique moment in time then just contact me direct for more details.
